Recognizing Sequence and Chronological Order
To keep track of sequence and pace as you read, use a time line, flow chart, or numbered list to take notes. If you can sum up events from your notes, then you have understood the passage.
- Chronological order arranges events according to when they occurred. Texts written as chronologies advance in the same way that we all experience time: with one event or experience following another.
- Sequence order shows events as they should, may, or usually occur. It is most often used to give directions or to show steps or events in a process.
